AI-powered Management Systems for Resilient Networks with Coordination and Integration of Distributed Energy Resources
The liberalization of the electricity market and subsidy policies for renewable Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are driving increased national energy independence. Nevertheless, proper technical management of active electrical networks remains essential, addressing challenges such as the integration of renewable sources and storage systems, the management of energy communities, network resilience, and quality of service—while involving multiple operators, end users, and stakeholders.
The project aims to deliver a comprehensive set of complementary AI-powered tools to support the optimized management of resilient electric and energy networks. These tools will ensure the effective integration and coordination of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and other assets (such as storage systems and electric vehicles) within different yet synergistic paradigms, ranging from smart grids to Virtual Power Plants and Energy Communities.
Project 8, within the research context described above, has led to the development of five products.
